HISTORY OF THE WORLD
The World project was presented to the press and the international community in 2001 and received a huge support so, after two years began to develop. But despite the numerous efforts and the money invested in it, many problems arose that put him in danger repeatedly.
The design and construction stage requires a lot of precision and is a long process. In the first place you have to gain land from the sea, for which it is necessary to place compacted sand in each of the points where the islands will later rise. This part of the process started in 2003 and it only showed the first results two years later.
In 2008, most of the islands and the breakwater that surrounds them were already up. Even many of them already had an owner. Despite this, the structure of the archipelago did not seem strong enough and, added to this, the financial and real estate crisis did not help the project to continue apace, and the work stopped.
The following year the work was resumed for short periods of time. A residential house was built on Greenland Island; with a device to purify water and an energy system that uses the sun’s energy to supply the current to the island, thus maintaining the fundamental condition of The World: respect for the environment.
To this day it is difficult to know with certainty what state The World is in, although there is no shortage of speculation and the security of real estate agents assuring that more and more hotels and luxury homes are being built. One of them, for example, is the one that develops (or wishes to develop) the Austrian construction company Kleindienst that is supposed to be, according to its website: “the largest and most luxurious tourist, residential and leisure complex”.
The particularity of its buildings is that they are inspired by the most popular European styles: the Andalusian, the Roman and the Viennese. Undoubtedly, something extremely curious. In addition, it will be a great luxury resort with streets and air-conditioned spaces, with simulation of rain and snow and that will feature the largest open-air aquarium on the planet.
Despite the illusion of the engineers and the laborious work of the technicians, it seems that this project was something great for the human being; so much so that many of the islands have collapsed because of global warming and there are few on which residences have finally been built.
